Vocalist and sound artist using the voice as a primary instrument and sound building block. She is interested in alternative forms of voice use, extended vocal techniques, folk and eastern culture, and especially their influence on vocal practices and deep forms of sound processing and synthesis. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Scholarship holder of the Indonesian Ministry of Culture in musicology. Student of Hindustani classical music under the tutelage of vocalist Shashwati Mandal. She is a co-founder of the multidisciplinary group WIDT and the music duo Mentos Gulgendo. Last year saw the release of her solo album “Lamunan,” recorded for voice and its echoes resonating in the Modlin Fortress tunnel as a result of many hours spent practicing vocals in Javanese caves. “Lamunan” was very warmly received by critics, making it to the list of the 100 best albums of 2020 compiled by the British portal Quietus, among others. A follow-up of sorts, the album was released this year with vocal sketches recorded in deserted provincial churches in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
