On the closing weekend of the Odjazd exhibition, the Canti Spazializzati #5 concert took place at the new BWA Wrocław Główny gallery, which also served as a summary of the guest visit to the new BWA Wrocław space and the first in this year’s series of workshops devoted to the use of digital-analog instruments and DIY devices for multi-channel sound productions.
During the Canti Spazializzati #5 events, we actively used the listening space with its 4-second reverberation, 8-channel sound system, and 400-element Wielki Pragotron (also available here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-kJQKj5Jag) designed for part of the group exhibition Odjazd. The exhibition at the new BWA Wrocław Główny gallery was organized jointly by Czarny Latawiec, Karolina Pietrzyk, Krzysztof Tyszecki, and Mateusz Zieleniewski, curated by Katarzyna Roj.
During the concert, Piotr Bednarczyk, Beniovska, and Jędrzej Borowski presented premiere multichannel compositions utilizing the acoustic properties of the listening space at BWA Wrocław Główny and the Wielki Pragotron Spacjalizowany. As is tradition, the concert opened with a screening and discussion of the multichannel piece “na taśmę” (on tape). This time, the compositions were by Joan La Barbara – the radio play “A Different Train” (1998) based on a text by Melody Sumner Carnahan (one of John Cage’s most diligent students, hailed by critics as “the most musical prose writer since Gertrude Stein”) and multi-channel sound sculptures for voice and synthesizer from the 1970s.
